OddBird Café | Back of House

OddBird Café is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Bakery Assistant to support daily bakery production and prep operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys early mornings, hands-on kitchen work, structured production tasks, and working as part of a collaborative team.

The Bakery Assistant works closely with the Bakery Lead to help prepare, finish, organize, and maintain high-quality baked goods while supporting cleanliness, food safety, and efficient kitchen operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily bakery prep and production tasks
• Measure, mix, portion, and prepare ingredients accurately
• Support baking, finishing, and plating of baked goods
• Maintain clean, organized, and stocked bakery stations
• Follow recipes, prep lists, food safety, and sanitation standards
• Assist with labeling, dating, and proper food storage
• Support opening, closing, and cleaning procedures
• Communicate effectively with kitchen leadership and team members
• Crosstrain and assist Back of House team members as needed

Qualifications

• Previous bakery, pastry, café, restaurant, or kitchen experience preferred
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and cleanliness
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Reliable transportation and consistent attendance required
• Ability to work early morning shifts, weekends, holidays, and seasonal peak periods as needed
• Positive attitude, coachability, and strong teamwork skills

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods (6–8 hours)
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
• Comfortable working around ovens, kitchen equipment, and food allergens
