A café is only as good as the people behind the counter.

OddBird is a neighborhood café, emphasis on neighborhood. We're here to make a great cup of coffee, a plate worth lingering over, and the kind of place where regulars become friends and friends become regulars. The team we're building shares one thing in common: a real love for hospitality, food, and the small daily moments that make a café feel like home. Our House Rules

Be Consistent. Don’t Be a Hero.

Consistency is king. It is important that our guests “feel” the same each time they come to the café. We aim for consistency in food & beverage quality, overall customer experience, knowledge amongst customer-facing staff, and technique for preparing and serving food & beverages.

There is a “we” in teamwork.

We are more than simply the sum of our parts.
True collaboration requires us to each embrace our individual role and responsibility, identify areas of passion and growth, and know where we complement and are complemented by the team. Together, we can be proactive in identifying problems and exploring solutions.

Stay curious, my friends.

Classics are classics for a reason, but we also have good reasons to be curious about ways to innovate and create new twists on the staples. This is a safe place to experiment and explore fresh ideas and subtle tweaks on the old ones.

Connection starts with us.

Fostering connection is the reason we exist, but it doesn’t only happen at tables between our guests. Creating a place for connection starts with meaningful connections within our team. Unity in our vision and practices will be felt by us, and, most tangibly, as we connect with guests. Do our guests feel known, heard, and valued? The success of the café hinges on these touch points.

Have fun. The sky isn’t falling - at least not today.

We want guests to have fun at our café, so let’s go first. Interacting with each guest, working as a team to deliver the best hospitality, and serving food and drinks can and should all be fun. Smile, laugh, and contribute to a fun environment as part of our top notch service.

Get behind the counter

No two shifts are the same. The good ones, though, have a few things in common.

You'll know your regulars by name and drink order. You'll learn the difference between a perfectly steamed pitcher and a near-miss. You'll fall into a rhythm with your tea. The kind where you don't even have to ask, you just know who needs a hand. Some shifts are a sprint. Some are a slow Monday morning hum. All of them go better when we're in it together.
