OddBird Café is seeking an experienced, organized, and hands-on Bakery Lead to oversee daily bakery production and support the continued growth of our in-house bakery program. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about quality baked goods, thrives in early morning production environments, and enjoys leading a collaborative team.

The Bakery Lead is responsible for maintaining consistency, freshness, food safety, and operational flow while supporting bakery prep systems, staff training, and overall production efficiency. This position works closely with café leadership to ensure baked goods align with the café's service standards and hospitality-focused culture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily bakery production and prep schedules
  • Ensure consistency, freshness, quality, and presentation of baked goods
  • Execute recipes accurately and maintain production standards
  • Train, coach, and support bakery staff
  • Maintain organized, clean, and inspection-ready bakery operations
  • Assist with inventory tracking, ingredient ordering, and waste reduction
  • Support seasonal menu development and bakery growth initiatives
  • Uphold food safety, sanitation, and operational procedures
  • Collaborate with Front of House and Back of House leadership teams

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of baking, pastry, or bakery production experience preferred
  • Previous café, bakery, restaurant, or food production experience preferred
  • Leadership or training experience preferred
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Reliable transportation and consistent attendance required
  • Ability to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and seasonal peak periods as needed

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods (6–8 hours)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Comfortable working around ovens, kitchen equipment, and food allergens
