OddBird Café is seeking dependable and organized Prep Cooks to support daily kitchen operations through scratch cooking, food preparation, and kitchen organization. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working behind the scenes, takes pride in consistency and cleanliness, and thrives in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Prep Cooks help create the foundation for smooth service by preparing ingredients, supporting production needs, maintaining food safety standards, and assisting the kitchen team during busy service periods.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients and menu items according to café recipes and standards
  • Perform prep tasks including chopping, slicing, batching, portioning, and stocking stations
  • Support prep production and assist with line service during peak periods as needed
  • Prepare house-made syrups, sauces, and café support items
  • Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary workstations
  • Follow food safety, labeling, storage, and FIFO procedures
  • Assist with opening, closing, and cleaning responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen leadership and team members

Qualifications

  • Previous kitchen or food service experience preferred
  • Experience with prep production, scratch cooking, or high-volume kitchens preferred
  • Basic food safety and sanitation knowledge
  • Good knife skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills
  • Reliable transportation and consistent attendance required
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak business periods as needed

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (7–8 hours)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Comfortable working around kitchen equipment, sharp tools, and food allergens
